How to join an organization - newcomer
Joining an organization is mandatory to have full access to the PICS community.
Only AFTER your membership request gets validated by the organization manager, you will have access to the PICS community by becoming a Verified User.
Once logged in, go to the Home page (AU homepage | Programme Information and Collaboration Space) and follow the steps below.
Step 1. Select first your category
There are 4 categories
- Customs administration officials from Participating Administrations*: request to join the organization representing your national customs administration.
- Tax administration officials from Participating Administrations*: request to join the organization representing your national taxation administration.
- TAXUD and EC officials: request to join DG TAXUD organisation.
External experts: request to join the External Experts Community. Your request will be processed and verified by DG TAXUD with the relevant unit before validating your membership. It is consequently essential for you to provide a justification and a contact point in DG TAXUD.
* If you are a customs or tax official from a country not participating in the Customs/Fiscalis programme, you will have to register as an External expert.

Step 2. Select your national organization
If you are a customs or tax official from a country participating in the Customs/Fiscalis programme, please click on the country flag of the organization you want to join.
You will be redirected to the home page of the organization.
Step 3. Request to join
Click the "Request to join" button in the panel with the Organization details, a pop-up window will appear.
Step 4. Send your request
Enter your message in the Request to join the message form.
Click the send request button, and then you will be directed to your organization's homepage and you will be notified that your request is sent.
Step 5. Your organization manager will verify your account
This step is not done by you, but by the Manager of your Organization (the Organization Manager).
After the Organization Manager has validated your organization's membership, the new user becomes a verified PICS user and can request/accept the invitation to become a group member they would like to join.
Additional information requested for External Experts
*External experts (different from tax and customs administrations from participating countries) should request to join the External Experts. In this case, validation goes through TAXUD. The PICS team will consult the operational units to validate your request – if you are aware of an external expert who requested or is about to request to join the External Experts, it is advisable for you/your colleagues to inform the PICS support team through the TAXUD-PICS mailbox (TAXUD-PICS@ec.europa.eu) in order to simplify and potentially shorten the validation process duration.
